I have duty tomorrow. I’ll spend 24 hours representing my commander, occupying his place at the headquarters while he enjoys some time off, away from the rigors of command. Some people would call it a “perk” but I think he’s probably pretty grateful for the time off. I don’t have to do it all the time, but for tomorrow my name came up. We all take turns (Officers and senior NCOs) so nobody has to have a really sucky life, it was just my turn in the queue that fell on July 4th.
Have fun, enjoy the picnics and enjoy the fireworks. I’m hoping that my commander will enjoy his, too!
